A Great Return

15 September 2020 By spidrwebadmin

Let me start with a big well done to all of the children in class 6 for a great first week back. It has been lovely to have all of the children in and showing their willingness to work already.

This week the children have been working hard every morning with maths and English, we have really focused on reading this week and trying to get back up to speed. Alongside our reading in class, all of the children have started using Reading Plus, our new online reading lesson. We are going to continue to use this at school during lessons but the children can also log on at home for some extra reading time.

Everyone seems to have enjoyed our afternoon lessons in the first week back; we have started our history topic of the USA and already completed a science practical in our properties of materials topic. As well as this the children have looked at some work by Vincent Van Gogh in art and taken part in two very active P.E. lessons.

What a busy first week back! Enjoy the weekend Year 6 and I look forward to seeing you all raring to again on Monday.

World Book Day

5 March 2020 By spidrwebadmin

Today we have been celebrating World Book Day. We made our own t-shirts based on our favourite books and made sure to include lots of vocabulary. We then showed our artwork to each other and the rest of our school. Everyone had a great World Book Day!

PDSA Visit

2 March 2020 By spidrwebadmin

Today we had a visit from the PDSA. We had a whole school assembly looking at the work the PDSA does in the community. Class 5 and Class 6 then had an interesting workshop looking at “Animal Heroes” and the fantastic work animals do to keep us safe.

Children in Need

15 November 2019 By spidrwebadmin

The children in Class 6 have enjoyed creating their own Pudsey stories to read to their buddies. We have some amazing stories and the buddies enjoyed listening to them. We also created some games to play; we created a Pudsey pairs game and Pudsey spot the difference. Class 6 have worked amazingly well on these activities.

National Poetry Day

3 October 2019 By spidrwebadmin

25th National Poetry Day – 3rd October 2019

Class 6 watched a video of the wonderful Michael Rosen performing Chocolate Cake, by Michael Rosen. After discussing what made his performance so engaging, we had a go ourselves. In pairs, the children performed either, Conversation Piece, by Gareth Owen, or Ladles and Jellyspoons, which is a traditional English verse. They were all amazing!

The children enjoyed this so much that they volunteered to share their fun performances with children and staff from other classes across the school. Their efforts were appreciated by all. Well done to the eager bards of Class 6.
