Class 3 have had great fun learning about Stone Age Jewellery. We discovered they used animal bones and teeth to make necklaces and bracelets.
Over the next few weeks, we will be exploring instructional texts. We soon realised the importance of precise instructions after Miss Brack spread the jam using her hands as Class 3 forgot to tell Miss Brack to pick up the knife! This week, we have been learning about imperative verbs by decorating biscuits. We used imperative verbs to tell our partner how we would like our biscuit to be decorated. We had lots of fun decorating our biscuits and even more fun eating them. Yum!
Back to the Rollin’ Stone Age!
Class 3 went back in time to the Stone Age! Our classroom had turned into a cave overnight and we were left with no table and chairs or writing equipment. Instead, we spent our whole day living in the Stone Age and learnt about how the Stone Age was prehistoric. We spent our day making our fire, hunting for animals and communicating through the use of cave drawings. Some quotes from Class 3 were:
* ‘This is the best day ever!’
* ‘This is so much fun!’
* ‘Can the classroom stay like this? I hope the cavemen don’t mind us changing our classroom back.’
* ‘I love the Stone Age! It is so much fun!’
Magnificent Mathematicians!
In Maths, Class 3 have spent some time learning about partitioning. We partitioned 3-digit numbers using dienes, marshmallows and chocolate hoops. It was lots of fun!
What a fantastic week!
Class 3 have had a fantastic week learning all about ‘The Stone Age’. We have looked at making cave paintings and have re-told the story of ‘Stone Age Boy’ by Satoshi Kitamura.

A wonderful trip to the Botanic Gardens!
Class 3 have had a lovely day out to the Botanic Gardens in Durham.
Despite the rain, we all had lots of fun looking at minibeasts and learning all about plants.
We talked about the story “Jack and the Beanstalk,” and went on a hunt around the gardens in search for the tree that would make the best beanstalk for Jack.
We all agreed that the huge Canadian Redwood trees would be the best.
What a fantastic day we have had!
