All Saints Day

3 November 2022 By spidrwebadmin

To celebrate the feast of All Saints, we remembered people who have lived their lives following Jesus and serving others. We reflected on how we, too, are called to be saints and how we can follow Jesus and serve others in our daily lives.

Queen Elizabeth II Condolences

9 September 2022 By spidrwebadmin

With Deepest Sympathy…

On behalf of all of the children, staff, governors, families and wider school community, we would like to take this opportunity to express how deeply saddened and moved we all are after hearing the news of the passing of our wonderful Queen- Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The Queen was a lady that we all admired and respected for her loyal and committed service, she shone like a beacon to others and led the way as a role model to all. She was committed, compassionate and extended a warmth to others during her service as our Queen.

Whilst steadfast in her role and duties as a stateswoman, showing dignity and consistency, Queen Elizabeth was a kind-hearted and loving wife, mother and grandmother who has left a lasting impression upon her country, commonwealth and us all.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will be admired and respected for generations to come for the true and inspiring lady that she was. Through our school values of love, learn, grow and inspire we aspire to let our light shine, just as our Queen has done during her 70 years of dedicated service, and will remember her with fondness, admiration and pride.

As part of our safeguarding curriculum, children across school form Year 1– Year 6 have had an assembly and taken part in workshops linked to the NSPCC initiative of ‘Speak out. Stay safe.’  Children demonstrated a fantastic understanding of how to keep themselves safe and they were taught to speak out if they are worried, either to a trusted adult or to Childline.

Reception Ducklings

26 June 2022 By spidrwebadmin

The Reception children have thoroughly enjoyed watching baby ducklings hatch from their eggs and have been thrilled to care for them over the past week and a half. The awe, wonder and curiosity that the children have shown, whilst observing and caring for the ducklings, has been astounding. We now have a class full of duckling experts. Our parents and grandparents enjoyed getting to meet the ducklings too.

The children were all sad to see the ducklings go but we know that they will have a happy life at the farm.

Holocaust Memorial Day

27 January 2022 By spidrwebadmin

On 27th January every year, it is Holocaust Memorial Day.

It’s a day for everyone to remember the millions of people who were killed, or whose lives have been changed, by an event in history called the Holocaust.

At Our Lady of Lourdes we pray for all those who suffered and those who lost their lives as a result of the Holocaust.

You can find out more about the Holocaust and why we designate a special day each year as ‘Holocaust Memorial Day’ by following the link to BBC Newsround, which gives more information and detail https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/38668425
