Reading is SNOW much fun !!

14 January 2016 By spidrwebadmin

We LOVE reading in Class 6! In our reading area we enjoy picking out our favouring book and having some time to delve into amazing stories. Our reading area is a nice, quiet space for us to have time to ourselves and time to talk about books with our friends.

Mrs Pearn and I was so pleased to see our boys choosing to read together over playtime. It was interesting to speak to some of them about their reading and they said:

” We enjoy reading our favourite books over playtime.” (Daniel)

” It is good to read and is different from playing on the x-box.” (Evan)

” I enjoy reading because it is a good experience and you learn about stories you have never heard before”. (Ben)

Fantastic reading boys !

Christmas Liturgy

15 December 2015 By spidrwebadmin

Class 6 celebrated the end of our Advent topic by putting together a class liturgy. First, we gathered in a circle to show God’s love is never – ending and eternal.  We brought to our liturgy a Nativity set, a Christmas card we have made, and a cross. We read from the bible, Isiah,  and said an Advent blessing. We created our own liturgy and chose everything we wanted to include. Some of our Year 6 girls performed Silent Night and signed the words of the song. It was a lovely way to reflect on our topic. We want to wish everyone a peaceful Christmas time.

Amazing projects !

3 December 2015 By spidrwebadmin

Well done Class 6! Once again you have produced some amazing projects all about famous people in England. Some of you focused on Guy Fawkes and others on Oliver Cromwell. I am always impressed with the time and effort which goes into these projects. I hope you have enjoyed working as a family to create these.

Here are some examples of our projects.

Oliver Cromwell – Hero or Villain!

27 November 2015 By spidrwebadmin

Today the children have been working to give a supported answer to the question. ‘Is Oliver Cromwell a hero or villain?’ They enjoyed looking at primary and secondary sources and sorting them to show positive views of Cromwell , or negative ones. I was particularly impressed with how the children considered the time the evidence was written and if that changed how useful it was. They are thinking like true historians. Well done Class 6 !

Here are some examples of amazing work from today.

University Experience !

27 November 2015 By spidrwebadmin

On Thursday 26th November 2015, Class 6 visited Northumbria University to take part in a higher education experience. We played dodge ball, solved crimes and had a campus tour. We also spoke to many students about life at university. It has certainly inspired us to aim high in our learning. Well done Class 6 – you really let your light shine on our trip.

Here are some photographs of us solving crimes, walking round campus, and with our certificates from when we graduated at the end of the day.

French Letters to Santa!

18 November 2015 By spidrwebadmin

This afternoon children wrote a letter to Santa, in French! They enjoyed using phrases from a different language to create a Christmas list. We added in some of our key learning, for example our name, how old we were and where we lived. We also used the phrases I like or I do not like.

Here are some examples of our wonderful work today.

Now we just need to send the letters off to reach Santa for Christmas!

In October we went to St Bede’s to work in the science labs. We had a great time making our own universal indicator solution. We looked at different acids and alkalies. All children took part in scientific experiments. We even made our own circuit boards, using our knowledge of electricity.
