All of the children have started Year 6 brilliantly. We are extremely proud of them. They have taken on responsibilities, such as being buddies and leading our first Mass. Well done Class 6.
Leaver’s Assembly
What a lovely assembly to reflect on our year together! It has been an absolute pleasure to work with the children over the last year (or two in some cases) and I will miss seeing them every day. However, I am sure they will go on to achieve great success in their new schools. They are a credit to their families; they are determined, strong, good natured and have a fantastic sense of humour. In Class 6 we laugh every day and have had so much fun together. The children love their new hoodies, which they can wear right up until our last day together. Thank- you for all of your support, as always. We look forward to seeing you at 9:30am for the Leaver’s Mass on Wednesday.
Joseph Performances
Year 6 have had the most fantastic time performing Joseph this week. We loved working as a team and having so much fun. Thank- you to all of the people who came to see us and who gave us such rave reviews. We really appreciate all of the support from parents and friends of Our Lady of Lourdes’ School. Please remember to send you £5 into school if you wish to purchase a DVD.
Making props for Joseph.
We are having a brilliant time rehearsing for our Joseph performance. This week we have been making costumes and scenery. We can’t wait for you to see our finished performance.
Busy Bees!
We really enjoyed learning about honey bees last week. We had a talk with a bee keeper, who brought his honey bees into our class. There are thousands of bees in a hive and it takes hundreds to make one jar of honey. Well done to Daniel who spotted the queen bee, who had a small green dot on her head, in the middle of the hive.
Maths Murder Mystery!
We had so much fun working out the answers to our maths murder mystery! We applied lots of the strategies we have worked on this year.
Mountain Biking Fun
Four pupils from Year 6 entered the Mountain biking competition at Dene Community School on 10th June. Fortunately, the weather stayed fair and all the children had an amazing time.
An Amazing Day With Adam Bushnell
Year 6 had a fantastic morning working with Adam Bushnell. Adam came in to work with us on our writing and our topic, Volcanoes. We looked at images, adverts, videos and effects linked to volcanoes and then wrote a piece of descriptive writing. Our teachers were extremely proud of our work today. We will display some of our fantastic writing in our classroom. It was a great experience, showing how important it is to write for pleasure and enjoyment, seeing the marvelous results that were produced. Thank-you Adam.
SATS Party!
Well done to all of our Year 6 children for their amazing work this week. I would also like to thank- you all so much for your wonderful contributions to our party today. However, we have eaten so much food we won’t need anymore for a week! (As we had so much food today, we have saved some items for another party at the end of term!)
We all thoroughly enjoyed lazing around in our ‘pjs’, watching a film and spending some time together.
We did it!
Well done to all of our Year 6 children for their: determination, drive, motivation, enthusiasm and complete pride in their work, which they demonstrated to the highest levels over this week. After finishing our last SAT today, we prepared for our party tomorrow and had an ice-cream. After all they do say …. work hard… play hard!
