In our science lesson today we took part in a practical science lesson looking looking at how digestion works in humans. It was a bit gross at times but we all enjoyed it and learned a lot taking part!

Today we have been celebrating World Book Day. We made our own t-shirts based on our favourite books and made sure to include lots of vocabulary. We then showed our artwork to each other and the rest of our school. Everyone had a great World Book Day!
Today we had a visit from the PDSA. We had a whole school assembly looking at the work the PDSA does in the community. Class 5 and Class 6 then had an interesting workshop looking at “Animal Heroes” and the fantastic work animals do to keep us safe.
Today we have been getting into the spirit of Fairtrade Fortnight. We used inference to ask questions about unknown Fairtrade items, tested consumer power by tasting Fairtrade chocolate and taking part in a game were we assumed the role of tea buyers and tea farmers to understand the importance of Fairtrade. We all really enjoyed it and we have a much better understanding of why it is important to buy Fairtrade when we can.
Year 5 took part in a festival at the Beacon of Light today. We had a taste of lots of different sports, including handball and dodgeball!
Today Class 5 have been learning about the general election. We made our own political parties and came up with policies and ways we could improve our school. We then went to visit Class 3 to introduce our parties and explain our policies. Class 3 then took part in secret ballots to decide which party they wanted to win.
We have been reaching for the stars! We studied what stars are made from, how they can be useful to us and what constellations are. We then recreated the constellations using sweets.
