On Wednesday 8th June, our whole school took part in a sponsored fun run. We all dressed up and went outside to complete our laps around the field. KS1 had to run 5 laps and KS2 ran 10. We were all very tired after running around all morning but we had so much fun. Our fancy dress costumes were brilliant and both staff and children had a fantastic morning. Thank- you to our FOOLLS for organising the event.

Our summer sports day is approaching. As a school who value and promote sport, we are excited to welcome you to join us in celebrating the sporting skills and abilities of all children.

The date for Sports day this year, is Friday 1st July 2016. Please note this date has changed due to other events in school. However, we still look forward to seeing you on July 1st, to celebrate Sports at Our Lady of Lourdes.

The whole school had a wonderful time yesterday, at Billingham Forum Theatre,  watching Joseph And the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Children and staff enjoyed singing along and following the adventures of Joseph. The performance was absolutely fantastic. The children also enjoyed their multi-coloured day on Wednesday, in preparation for the trip. Thank- you to all of the parent volunteers, FOOLLS and other visitors who came to help, and especially to all parents for their continued support, allowing us to take all children to see such a fantastic performance; experiences like these enhance the learning of our children vastly.

Yesterday we had a very special visitor in school. Tom Robson works with schools across the country to encourage the development of independent learners, as well as with parents and children to help them to see learning as a “great pleasure and something to enhance our lives.”  Dr Robson visited all of our classes to help us to find out more about our learning powers.

Each class had a wonderful time finding out how we learn in different ways and how we can become much more effective and independent learners. We looked at finding and using our diamond, sapphire, emerald and ruby powers, which all represent different strands of learning.  We had such a fantastic time that Tom will be visiting our school again in the near future to continue his work with us. In the meantime, we will  help each other to develop our learning powers!

Easter Coffee Afternoon

Many thanks to everyone who contributed to, or attended our Easter coffee afternoon.  We raised £255 for school funds.  This will go towards payment for our whole school trip to the theatre in April.

PARENT UNIFORM LETTER – MARCH 2016

The children have all had a wonderful day celebrating World Book Day. They have dressed up as their favourite characters;created art work and writing about their class books and have taken part in a ‘Design a Door’ reading competition.

Here are our amazing ‘Doorways into Reading’.

The school will close on Friday, 15 January 2016 (All day) and re-open on Monday, 18 January 2016 (Morning). Reason for closure: The school grounds and facilities will be used on Friday 15th January for the funeral of Fr Meagher. This closure is due to the very large number of people and vehicles entering the school and grounds throughout the day. Health and safety and safeguarding risk assessments were considered when making this decision.

This has been a very busy and successful term, and it has been great to see the children develop in so many ways. They have all really enjoyed the run up to Christmas, especially the visit to the pantomime yesterday! As well as the fun activities, the children have also remembered the true meaning of Christmas.
