Kindness at Christmas- Shoe box appeal.

23 November 2016 By spidrwebadmin

Thank- you so much for all of your kind donations regarding our Christmas shoe box collection. All of the boxes have now been collected and we are sure they will make someone extremely happy this Christmas.  We placed our boxes alongside our special tree which has our remembrances of family, friends and loved ones on it.

We will remember them…

10 November 2016 By spidrwebadmin

Class 5 and Class 6 (on behalf of the whole school) visited the cenotaph in Shotton today, to lay a wreath. It was our way of respecting the sacrifice the soldiers from our community made for us. We were then extremely lucky to visit the wonderful display in Mr Cochrane’s shop window. We would like to thank Mr Cochrane and his family for spending time with the children and explaining all of the items to us. All of the children especially enjoyed seeing the poppy from the original display at the Tower of London. Thank you to all of the Cochrane family for giving up their time to us this morning.. We were also very honoured to place another wreath in the window display, from all of the children at Our Lady of Lourdes Primary School. Please go and see the wonderful memorial to all of the soldiers who fought in the wars.

Amazing artwork

19 October 2016 By spidrwebadmin

The children from Class 5 had a super day with the artist in residence. They suggested ideas, designed and created an amazing piece of artwork, linked to our school mission statement, for the entrance of our school. We are very proud of the finished design and look forward to sharing it with all of our friends and visitors.

Year 6 have had the most fantastic time performing Joseph this week. We loved working as a team and having so much fun. Thank- you to all of the people who came to see us and who gave us such rave reviews. We really appreciate all of the support from parents and friends of Our Lady of Lourdes’ School.  Please remember to send you £5 into school if you wish to purchase a DVD.

Sports Day.

9 July 2016 By spidrwebadmin

We had a fantastic time on Friday, when our children took part in Sports Day. It was wonderful to see how our children were supported by many parents, grandparents, carers and friends. All the children showed excellent sportsmanship and were able to work well in their teams. Children and staff were pleased to see so many family and friends join us for our picnic. It is a shame the weather didn’t manage to stay dry, but at least we were able to be outside for the races. Thank-you again for all of your continued support.

Adam Bushnell – Amazing Writing.

16 June 2016 By spidrwebadmin

The whole school were really excited today, as Adam Bushnell came to do some writing with us. Adam is a story -teller and author and he gave us lots of opportunities to improve all of our writing.  Each class had a session based on their topics.  Class 6 looked at volcanoes, Class 5 at Vikings, Class 4 looked at mining disasters , Class 3 at habitats , Class 2 looked at space and Class 1 looked at the artist Acrimboldo, linked to their growth topic.  We have been writing across a whole range of topics. Today really showed what fantastic writers we have in school. We all had a brilliant time and can’t wait for Adam to come back next year to work with us again. Please see individual class blogs for more images.
