Over the last few weeks, children in our school (Upper KS2) have been taking part in the ‘Lumiere Project’. They have been looking at patterns in nature and in science. Helen, who is helping us with the project, came to speak to our whole school in assembly. She helped us to look for patterns in nature.

Exploring patterns in nature is our theme for a piece of school art/science work, which will be created by our UKS2 children. This will then be on display at the Lumiere festival this year.

Everyone was so impressed with the amazing answers our children gave. We have lots of scientists in the making.

Thank you to the many parents and families who came to ‘Meet the Teacher Night’. The evening was a huge success, with guests visiting different stalls to find out key information about school and then speaking to class teachers. We had some amazing feedback from the event and hope to continue to share the exciting things happening in our school, in similar ways, in the future.

Please join us for our, ‘Meet The Teacher’ night on Tuesday, 26th September. We will join together in the hall, at 5:00pm, to discuss whole school information. After this, classes will be open for parents and families to speak to individual teachers and to see some of the resources your child will use to help their learning.

This is a good opportunity for you to hear about what your child will be learning about this year, ask any questions you have about the new term and to meet the staff in school.

We would just like to remind you that our first whole school Mass, led by Year 6, will take place on Friday 22nd September 2017, at 9:30am.

Welcome back to all children, families and friends of the school, after the summer break. We hope that everyone has had a relaxing holiday, enjoying time together with their families and friends.

Term will begin on Tuesday 5th September 2017. We are excited to begin a new academic year and we would like to start by welcoming our Reception children, who are new to the school this September. We also welcome all new starters in other year groups, as well as new staff, who are joining our school family.

As ever, at Our Lady of Lourdes School, we have an open door policy and are always happy to help with any queries or questions, so please do not hesitate to speak to a member of staff if you need any information regarding the start of term, or your child’s learning.

The whole school had a great day at the partnership festival, despite the weather.

All staff and children at Our Lady of Lourdes School would like to congratulate all of the boys and girls, who received their First Holy Communion on Sunday 18th June, 2017. This was a very special day for our children, who were extremely reverent and respectful, during this special Mass.

The children came back to school and had a celebration with their family, school staff and members of the parish, after receiving their certificate.

After rain on Friday caused us to change the date of  our Fun Run, all of our children had a wonderful time today, running around the field. Both KS1 and KS2 children enjoyed taking part and competing to see which house team would win the Fun Run overall.

Red Team were overall winners for KS1.

Green Team were overall winners for KS2.

We had a wonderful time in our teams and enjoyed showing off our athletic and teamwork skills.

Please can we remind everyone to return their sponsorship money to school as soon as possible.
