Narnia Projects

22 December 2016 By spidrwebadmin

All of the children have had a brilliant time creating their Narnia projects and I have been extremely pleased with the wonderful pieces of work they have produced.

Today, Class 2, came to look at our projects. We shared our projects with each other, staff and Class 2 children, explaining all about our topic and the projects created.

It is lovely to see the work created at home, with family support.

On behalf of myself and Mrs Pearn, have a Happy Christmas and New Year.

We all had a fantastic time at our Christmas Dinner today. It was a really lovely time we spent together. Thank- you to the Mrs Iley and Mrs Nattress for the wonderful dinner they made.  We didn’t get many photographs as we were too busy eating, however we all had a wonderful time!

Year of Writing.

24 November 2016 By spidrwebadmin

This year, in our Peterlee Partnership Schools, we are having a Year of Writing. Class 6 worked together to write a short story which will be shared with other schools. We were given a picture as a starting point.

It was a brilliant afternoon, seeing every child contribute to our writing. Here is a copy of the story.

Fantastic Work At School and Out of School.

23 November 2016 By spidrwebadmin

Over the last few days, Year 6 have been writing some fantastic pieces of worked, based on a WW2 video, called The Piano. Some of the writing has been so emotional, Mrs Pearn and I are sure the children are trying to win a bet to see which one of us cries first!

Here are some examples of some  excellent writing produced in class this week:

The old man’s skeleton-like hands swiftly hovered above the jet, black piano. The piano was his only peace. Suddenly, to the old man’s surprise, the keys started to bleed out memories back to his over-worked brain. Ghostly tunes floated through the lonely man’s heart.

Smiling, he continued to play his ancient piano as he knew the spirit of his beautiful wife was beside him. Twisted and gentle; fast and furious, the fingers of himself and his wife slid across the piano. The song was their favourite melody. (Thomas)

Distraught, he just played the piano; it was the only thing that kept him going. As she floated away from him, he felt as though he had been stabbed. Thinking of when she was here, he could feel here presence around him but could not grasp her fragile, soft hands.  (Olivia)

As the music slowed down, he could see his wife’s image getting brighter.  His ring (which was plated with gold) jumped as he gently pushed the ivory keys down to the wooden base. The woman’s figure, next to him, was as transparent as ice. Although he couldn’t be with her, he still found her in his emotional heart. He took a long blink; she slowly disappeared into the darkness. (Sol)

I will post even more amazing writing over the week.

We have also had some fantastic writing from some of our Year 6 girls who have been taking part in some writing with David Waugh from Durham University. Here they are after their final session.
