Macbeth Debates

7 December 2017 By spidrwebadmin

Year 6 children have been planning their balanced arguments to persuade readers if Macbeth was responsible for his own tragedy. We started by writing out topic sentences and then we were able to build on and discuss our ideas further. I was extremely impressed with how well Year 6 children were able to give fair and logical reasons to their arguments  and how they supported their argument with points from the text. Well done!

Thank-you Father Frank.

21 November 2017 By spidrwebadmin

Father Frank came to talk to us about having a vocation and the commitment he made to becoming a priest. He spoke about the Sacrament of ordination. All of Year 6 children would just like to thank him for all of his time and for answering our questions. We gathered in a circle and listened carefully to hear about life as a priest.

The Piano

21 November 2017 By spidrwebadmin

In English, Class 6 started to write some descriptive writing about an animation called ‘The Piano’. Some of the description was amazing and we can’t wait to share our final pieces with you soon.

Here are some examples of where we have worked together to talk about our writing and to build up description about different parts of the film.

Marvelous Mayan Projects

10 November 2017 By spidrwebadmin

I am so impressed with all of the hard work and effort which have gone into our Mayan projects. It was lovely to see how proud the children were of their work and how they all chose to present their work using their different skills and strengths Well done Class 6.

We Remember Our Soldiers

10 November 2017 By spidrwebadmin

Today, everyone in school took part in a two minute silence to remember the soldiers who fought for us. On behalf of the whole school, Class 5 and 6 then visited the cenotaph to lay a wreath. We read the poem, ‘In Flanders Field’ and we said a prayer. All of the children were so respectful and everyone enjoyed taking the wreaths to show respect for the soldiers in our community and all those fighting now.

Remembrance Poems

8 November 2017 By spidrwebadmin

As this week is a special time of remembrance, Year 6 children have been writing acrostic poems to say thank-you to the soldiers who gave their lives for us. We have also made a wreath to take down to the cenotaph.

Our School Leaders

8 November 2017 By spidrwebadmin

At Our Lady of Lourdes, we know how important it is that all of our voices are heard. Over the last half term, children voted for their School Council representatives. As well as this, in Year 6, children have worked hard over the last term to develop a Leadership Team. This Leadership Team will allow children in Year 6 to use their strengths to help with key areas of the school.

We have the :

House Captains and Vice Captains

Office Team

EYFS Buddy Team

Listening Matters Team

Booster Team

Tidy School Team

Playground Leader Team

Chaplaincy Team

We look forward to seeing our School Council and Year 6 children develop further as key leaders in our school.
