Chinese New Year
Creating our school mission statement
Food Technology Workshop
Today we had a visit from the ‘cake ninja!’ Who talked to us about where our food comes from. We talked about food from around the world and how important it is to ‘eat a rainbow.’
We learnt how different coloured foods help us to stay healthy. We created our own, ‘eat a rainbow posters before using different coloured fruit to create our own artwork. It was great fun!
CAFOD Assembly
To help children begin their Lenten journey and inspire them to pray, fast and give, a representative from CAFOD visited us to talk with the whole school about the Give It Up Challenge. Through real-life examples of people’s lives, we were shown how your donations can help support those less fortunate. The campaign has the focus that ‘God has given enough resources on this planet for everyone. No one should go hungry.’
As a school, we are asking for your support in fundraising for this important cause.
Taking the give it up challenge can be simple:
-Give up a treat like chocolate or crisps to save the money normally spent.
-Give up something more special like cinema trips, to raise even more.
-Going the extra mile, give up a favourite activity and get sponsored.
All money raised will go directly to CAFOD.
Forest School Fun…
Fairtrade Fortnight
As it is Fairtrade Fortnight, Class 5 have been looking at the reasons and impact of buying Fairtrade products. We demonstrated how consumer power can influence Fairtrade by sampling Fairtrade chocolate.
Classification keys
Today in Class 6, we continued to study classification. We looked at existing classification keys to unpick how they work and created our own classification keys for liquorice allsorts.
Fair Trade Cupcakes
This week we have been learning about FairTrade and how it can help other people. As part of our a Design and Technology lessons, we followed a recipe to make cupcakes using Fair Trade ingredients. We had lots of fun measuring the ingredients, mixing them and working together! Our cakes were delicious!
