Class 5 and Class 6 took part in a fun PE lesson today about hockey. We learned how to stop a ball and how to perform a push pass. We’re looking forward to building our skills over the coming weeks to use in a game situation.
Summer Term…
I can’t believe we are one week into the Summer Term already!
This year has absolutely flown by and the Reception children have grown so much already.
We have had a lovely first week back with our friends and look forward to what is going to be a very busy but very exciting term, as we make our way towards Year 1!
Welcome back
We hope you have had a relaxing and reflective Easter. Summer Term is always a busy time in school, with SATs, transition days and Sports Week, to name just just a few events. As always, we look forward to working with you all to ensure the best outcomes for our children.
Dance!
We are really enjoying exploring movement to music in our PE lessons this term. We are learning some key skills to combine into our dance routine. It’s great fun!
Amazing Area
As part of our work on area, we carried out some practical activities. We used different sized squares to measure the area of parts of the class, found the area of each of the letters in our name and made patterns using different coloured cubes with different areas.
Earth Hour
On Friday, we looked at the impact of human actions upon our world and some ways we can help prevent further damage. We watched some videos and matched information regarding plants and animals with facts about them and how human actions affect them. There was lots of discussion about the issues.
Super Scientists
Congratulations to our Year 5 and 6 Science Ambassadors, who won an award at Durham University on Friday. They competed against other schools and came came first with their interesting presentation about DNA, having impressed the panel of judges. They were excellent representatives for our school. Here they are displaying their fabulous trophy.
Earth Hour
Today Class 5 and Class 6 took part in Earth Hour. We learned about the impacts of climate change and the simple everyday changes we can make to help cut greenhouse gas emissions. We played a game to help us think about ways to save electricity and we also made model houses that were covered in key climate change messages.
OLOL Carnival 2019
The sun was shining brightly for our Carnival this year. It was almost as if we really had travelled to Rio De Janeiro!
We started the day by getting dressed in our costumes, which we had decorated and made ourselves.
Then we paraded to the school hall for our Carnival games.
In the hall, we played lots of fun games and even had a Limbo competition!
This afternoon, we made smoothies with our buddies from year 6.
We have had so much fun and haven’t stopped laughing and dancing all day long.
