Relationships and Health Education is statutory in all Primary schools in England.
We have adopted the programme, Life to the Full, produced by the Catholic educational organisation, Ten Ten Resources to support the teaching of the new statutory curriculum subject, Relationship and Health Education and we would like to share some further information with you.
The Life to the Full programme is based on the structure of ‘A Model Catholic RHE Curriculum’ by the Catholic Education Service. This model curriculum was highlighted as a work of good practice by the Department of Education.
Teachers teach lessons which are sequential, age appropriate and differentiated to the child’s ability. The activities and reflections which each class are involved in focus on physical, social, emotional, intellectual and spiritual development.
Some of the areas lessons will explore are:
about the physical development of their bodies as they grow into adults
that humans reproduce
about the importance of family life
about the parts of the body
about puberty
to respect the views of other people
about what to do about inappropriate behaviour
Life to the Full is much more than a series of lessons. It is an entire platform of creative resources that will engage, inform and inspire our children and, indeed, you as parents. This includes interactive video content, story-based activities, employing a wide range of teaching tools, original worship music and an accompanying programme of classroom prayers.
In addition, there will be an online parent platform so that you, as parent and carers, can engage with the teaching and deepen the experience for your child. To access the online parent platform please visit: www.tentenresources.co.uk/parent-portal
